Western Wall Tunnel Tour

Walking through the underground, narrow ancient tunnel beneath the Western Wall is like traveling back in time. Deep beneath the Western Wall Plaza and stretching into the Muslim Quarter, are a series of passageways built over the course of various periods in Jerusalem’s rich history of locals and conquerors.

Excavations of the tunnels have revealed a church, a residence, water cisterns and a stone quarry. A small room unearthed, considered to be a prayer room, is also the closest place to the Holy of Holies of the First and Second Temples.

Entrance to the tunnels is from the central plaza area through the Western Wall Heritage Foundation. The tour ends in the Muslim Quarter.
